Pere Marquette 1225 is a steam locomotive built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio. The locomotive has a 2-8-4 "Berkshire" wheel arrangement and was intended for both passenger and freight service on the Pere Marquette Railroad in Michigan. 1225 was also the basis for the train depicted in the book "The Polar Express". Pere Marquette 1225 is a large restored steam locomotive, based at the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan. Each year, the locomotive pulls excursion trips through Central Michigan to the delight of many. 1225 is perhaps most well known for being the inspiration for the train in both the book and the movie version of The Polar Express.
