Eilean Donan Castle, located on a small island where three sea lochs meet in the Scottish Highlands, was first built in the 13th century as a stronghold for Clan Mackenzie. It played a key role in several conflicts, including the Jacobite uprisings, and was destroyed by British forces in 1719. The castle lay in ruins for nearly 200 years until it was rebuilt in the early 20th century by Lt. Col. We also visited another Outlander site- Doune Castle became Castle Leoch of the MacKenzie Clan. 🥰⁣ ⁣ But long before, it was the castle from Monty Python and the Holy Grail! In the video portion I could not remember Holy Grail for the life of me.🤪⁣ ⁣ But at my Advanced age we still quote lines from this movie that came out during my childhood! Only a flesh wound!🤣🤣🤣⁣ ⁣ I'm headed over to JFK to begin my journey home to Virginia. It's time for me to return to my own castle!🏰⁣ ⁣ #quiltville
