The Effingham County Tax/Tag Office was awash in a festive spirit and holiday colors during its Grand Opening & Holiday Light Stroll on Friday. After a ribbon cutting at the highly decorated facility at 802 S. Laurel Street, the public to fellowship and light refreshments. Plus, Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Day was conducted in Effingham County on Monday. One of the highlights of the day was a parade in downtown Springfield. The Board of Commissioners thanks the Dr. MLK Observance Day Committee for allowing us to participate. The parade included multiple Effingham County entries, including a float that featured Commissioners Damon Rahn (chairman), Roger Burdette (District 2), Jamie DeLoach (District 3), County Clerk Stephanie Johnson and Communications Manager
